David Potts-Dupre: Music

Down While Uptown

(David Potts-Dupre)
The line “I’ve been down while uptown” came to me and I began to explore playing with other words expressing sadness or depression and a corresponding counterpart word or phrase. As we recorded and the percussion was added in, Steve began hearing a strong blues rock guitar in his head and added in amazing guitar work.
Down While Uptown David Potts-Dupre 9/11

I’ve been down while uptown
I’ve been low in a high rise
I’ve been blue in the green room
But I’ve never been alone when I’m with you
No, no, I’ve never been alone when I’m with you

I’ve been forlorn in three storms
I’ve been bitter with a sweet tooth
I’ve been gloomy in the full sun
But I’ve never been alone when I’m with you
No, no, I’ve never been alone when I’m with you

I’ve been dismayed in April
I’ve been weak in a strong wind
I’ve been mournful in the evening
But I’ve never been alone when I’m with you
No, no, I’ve never been alone when I’m with you

I’ve been bummed as a rich man
I’ve been lonesome in a twosome
I’ve been downcast in an updraft
But I’ve never been alone when I’m with you
No, no, I’ve never been alone when I’m with you
